Early TV chassis I.D. help needed
I recently was lucky enough to acquire a TV chassis found during a house clearance in Shropshire. It came with no tube or enclosure. The only valves I can identify are a Mazda AC/VP1, an Osram X41, a TDD4, another Osram starting with MU and ending with a 4, plus 2 others, where the marking has come off. There is a terminal from the transformer marked Motor, so I assume it was a radio/TV and record changer combination. Any help with identification would be much appreciated. I am considering getting a compatible tube and restoring the chassis, but I am not sure yet. Thank you!

Re: Early TV chassis I.D. help needed
Which part of it suggests that it's a TV chassis?

Re: Early TV chassis I.D. help needed
I think it could be a pre-war radiogram chassis, perhaps with TV sound. I don't think it's a TV chassis.

Re: Early TV chassis I.D. help needed
That looks like just a radio chassis to me, possibly from a radiogram, or could even be from a TV radiogram combo, but to make it work as a TV would require the TV chassis as well as this radio chassis. The random floating valve socket is probably for a magic eye valve.
Regards, Lloyd Actually, looking closer the extra valve base isn't for a magic eye! More likely used for connecting up part of the gram parts... Last edited by Lloyd 1985; 1st Dec 2018 at 2:31 pm. Reason: better observations! |

Thank you all for your replies, it was the floating socket that threw me! It did seem a bit simple to be a TV, unless there was an additional chassis.

Re: Early TV chassis I.D. help needed
Thanks again everyone, at least I don't have to find a tube for this! Mods this thread can be closed.
