Default Ceramic and Crystal cartridge specs.

I am currently collating data on the more well known cartridges of yore. of course I'm missing some data - does anyone have the output specs for:

the BSR TC8 M, H, S
Acos Hi G, and Acos GP104
Garrard GC-2

more to follow. Thanks!

Not sure if this will help you or not. Vinylengine are also attempting to collate cartridge data.

I have found a leaflet for the BSR TC8 and it seems there were three versions, the TC8M, TC8H/1 and TC8H/2. The latter version had a 1.1 volt output.

I have now found details for the Acos GP104 culled from old Home Radio & Maplin catalogues. Maplin refer to it as the Acos 104 but I think it is the same thing.

Might have the X5H data at home, remind me if I don't get back to you, Ben, please. I'm sure I bought a couple of these NOS from "Gwarpy", complete with boxes and printed insert with specs.

The BSR X5H, X5M and SX6M, SX6H details from an old Maplin catalogue; the Ronette 105 details from an old Home Radio catalogue. Sorry can't find any details on the X3M & H.

Thanks so much (again) Peter. Data added.

Still after :
BSR X3
ACOS HI- G
GARRARD GC2

Also, the data I have for the SONOTONE 9TA /9TAHC is from an American ad, and another magazine article/review so would appreciate any alterative sources for this to corroborate what I have.

Ben, really pleased to read of your useful project. Might it be made available on the forum? I'm surprised at how much I've forgotten about which cartridge was best in what situation! I'm sure I knew back in the 70's (or maybe I wasn't so fussy back then?). Am trying to decide what to fit in a Dynatron GR8, a Garrard KS40A sounds nice, tonally but its output is rather high. Any advice would be appreciated!

Still working on it. There's such a lot of information, it is taking a while!
I've got nearly all the BSRs done, which is the lion's share. Also quite a few Acos, need to finish the Sonotones. The 2509/3509/3559 series is a bit more complicated as there are Garrard and Pinnacle equivalents, so I need to check a lot of data to try and be sure all equivalents are listed correctly.
Watch this space. And thanks too Alex for the info, very useful.

Default Re: Ceramic and Crystal cartridge specs.

Despite a few gaps I have at last got some semblance of a document together, as promised earlier.

At the start of the document is the main list/database. I have indicated:
-Manufactuter
-cart model,
-Styli used,
-Tracking weight in G,
-Stereo, Stereo-compatible or Mono.
-Output in mV (usually at 1 or 1.2cm/s but often this data is missing).

There then follows a collection of miscellanea on the subject: cartridge ads, spec sheets, instruction cards and general information, collated from my collection, contributions here, and that found online in various places.

I still need to finish the Sonotone section and correct one or two inaccuracies or unconfirmed details, so bear with me! The subsequent editions of the document will have any amendments/corrections, plus any updated and new information.

A always, keep the info coming and feel free to point out anything I have missed. I appreciate the help.

Well done Ben!

The Acos GP96-1 was tracked by Hacker at 5g (if that's any help).
