Default Sony TC-K611S Door problem

Split from this success story: https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/...d.php?t=102473

Hi,

I have a TC-K611S, and the door was not opening, so I ordered a new belt kit. I just replaced both belts, and now the door only opens sometimes. Other times, I just hear a motor spinning. If I unplug it, then plug it back in and hold the door open/close button while powering on, it USUALLY opens. But even then, not always. During reassembly I was careful to make sure the notch in the cam lined up, so I didn't mess that up. Any ideas what could cause this erratic behavior?
