Default Fifteen Plus One-and-a-Half

Found these in our old Marconi absorption wavemeter down in the crypt. 15V HT supply and 1.5V filament on the valve. Two of the 800s measured 2V on an AVO 8!

This pic might be of interest to someone.

So would some scans of the developed battery cases! Both sorts are pretty rare now.

The 800s were, of course, for bicycle lamps; the metal Ever Ready ones that were certainly still available new in the very early 1980s, before they were replaced by the grey plastic ones that took two HP2s (and the French ones that took a 4.5V flat battery).

Is the square one an R1662?

I have one of these (dead of course), and I'm wondering what the intended market was.

I seem to be accumulating these just lately, they were fitted to the early variants of the Avo models (Model 40, Model 7)

The 1.5V cell is an 'S' type and is bigger than the AVO version, and can be scaled against the more familiar bicycle lamp batteries. I suppose I ought to dismantle it and scan it with dimensions, as suggested. I'll put them in my locker until I get around to it.

Field telephones type 'D', 'F' and 'J', as well as Avometers.
