I think a previous picture showed the set used in The Daemons.

Well spotted!

Two of them in fact, one at UNIT HQ and the other at the Cloven Hoof pub in Devil's End. They seem to be two different sets because the one in the pub appears to have lost its Pye badge.

Thanks, it looks like it's missing a small knob too:

I caught the 1986 adaptation of The Murder At The Vicarage last night, there were a few radios featured, including a Bush DAC90.

Default Vintage Radio recently seen on TV

Happy Christmas and New Year everyone. My wife saw this radio in a recent murder mystery on TV and would very much like one. Could anyone identify it?
Best regards Hugh

Bush DAC10. The bush logo is missing from the oval at the front, as almost 100% are. There seems to be 2 sockets drilled into the side of the cabinet. The white plastic on top often cracks at the corners as it shrinks with age, the fixing screws don't move so it cracks around the screws. I took the screws out of mine when I got it to prevent it cracking, I've just checked it now and the holes do not line up at all any more.

Bush DAC10 - a fairly popular set, shouldn't be hard to track one down.

Just be aware that should you acquire one you may find there's essentially nothing left to listen to on it.

That rather depends on Draker4c's taste in radio programmes and what transmissions can be received in his area.

The DAC10 is a more interesting looking set than the DAC90/A (in my opinion) so even as an ornament its a nice set and thanks to the efforts of Ian, Peter and David the Minimod has been helping to keeps these sets in service for a while to come.

The only thing that has annoyed me on one or two that have passed though my hands are the inverted magnet speaker a nightmare if its rusty, and as mathewhouse has pointed out the tendency of the screwholes on the cream push button escutcheon to crack.

Don't be put off by tales of doom

Cheers

There was also a GEC5445 behind the bar in the pub scene of this programme. I paused the programme to point out this to SWMBO who was suitably unimpressed.

The ITV docu-drama 'Nolly' (3-parts) and accompanying documentary, 'the realy nolly' about the life and career of Noele Gordon, had between them a few old tellies and studio equipment, cameras, monitors etc. Both are available on the ITV-X on demand channel. I think I saw a thorn 2000 at some point.

PS: this interview with noele gordon about her work with JL Baird and his 1928 colour tv system was also touched upon in both the drama and the documentary. Very interesting!

I watched the latest Indiana Jones movie last night. In one scene, set in 1969 America, on the day of the moon landing/ launch I swore I saw a series 4 or 5 Ferrograph tape recorder, or at least something with the famous Wearite deck. Fine for 1969, nice to know some made it over there. Interestingly it was vertical and the very much standard looking reels weren’t falling off.

alot of the indiana jones movies were filmed partially or wholly in the uk, so a ferrograph might have just come from Pinewood's prop stores!

A friend who is into old movies and who knows of my interest in old tech sent me the attached pic, showing Michael Caine in front of a bunch of tape-recorders.

Anyone identify the gear shown? And what looks like sets of small R2R recorders in triples above the main setups?
