Default Philips type 22 gc 060/58s not turning

Good morning all

I’m hoping you can help here. I have an old Philips turntable in a Grundig stereogram cabinet but the turn table is not turning. I’ve measured the voltage going in (120v) and also at the motor (120v). I can feel the motor buzzing but it’s not spinning. I’ve had it off and cleaned it with IPA whilst also gently turning it with a small drill before oiling it with a thin oil. It is freer than it was but still not spinning. How free should this feel exactly?

I'm not familiar with that motor but pretty much every deck motor I've come across (BSR, Garrard, Dual, Philips etc) spins very freely just with your fingers.

Can you spin it with your fingers with all power disconnected?

Is it a UK model? I'd expect it to be running at 240v and I see the sticker below the deck shows how to wire the motor for 240v. That said even running just 120v through it i'd still expect movement

cheers
Joe

Aye the Grundig stereo it’s connected to is output at 120 even though the Grundig is running at 240. All the documentation says this is correct . I’m going to dismantle the spindle from the bearing and clean some more

Have you tried spinning by hand with the power applied? I have had a few that got going like that.

i did one of these recently taking the motor apart and cleaning it and then lubricating it before reassembly. Once back together it struggled to turn .i eventually discovered that the bolts holding the motor together were too tight undoing them slightly got the thing working perfectly
