Thorn-AEI Investigation Report No L.60
I recently got an interesting (?) bit of paperwork with some other electronic oddments.
It originates from the Thorn-AEI Application Laboratory and is entitled 'Investigation Report No L.60 The design of a stabilized switched 405/625 line scanning circuit using the 30P19/PL302 on Thorn-AEI 110 degree cathode ray tubes' It's a total of 16 pages, including Design Considerations, Circuit Description, Circuit Diagram, Voltages, Waveforms, Components List, and Winding details of the line output transformer. Is this a well-known document? If not, is it of interest. I am keeping the original, but can try to scan it if there is interest. |

Re: Thorn-AEI Investigation Report No L.60
I would guess that this dates from around 1962/3 probably relating to the first full dual standard chassis, the 850. The later models used the PL500/504 line output valve.
Interesting document. John. |

Re: Thorn-AEI Investigation Report No L.60
If my memory is correct, I do have some other applications lab reports from this company, but not this one.
I’d certainly be interested in reading it. |

You're right about the date, I forgot to mention it's 'countersigned' 18th May 1963.
I will try to get it scanned soon. |

Re: Thorn-AEI Investigation Report No L.60
I have now scanned this document. I had to scan it in colour (there is some staining on the pages, actually the scan is more readable than the original) and my scanner software does not know how to produce small files. As a result it's about 14MBytes, far too large to post here.
However I am happy to send it out to anyone who wants it, please PM me with an e-mail address that will accept such files. I obviously have no claim to said document and am therefore happy for others to attempt to reduce the size, further distribute it, etc. |

Re: Thorn-AEI Investigation Report No L.60
Thanks Tony for sending it to me.
As it happens this became relevant with my 850 efforts today. The chassis is out and I find C92 has burst. This is C10 in your Thorn document. 0.35U. In 405 position. The chassis had to come out to get to it. Simon |

I'm glad it's of use.
The line output transformer in your chassis looks somewhat similar to the one in the report as well. |
