D/S CTV- How long are the legs?
I need to source a set of legs compatible with those missing from my 25 inch Bush CTV1912 (similar to CTV 25) . I am most unlikely to find originals. If anyone has got this set and can measure the length of the legs for me, that would be great. If not a measurement from any other 25 inch ctv of the period would be really helpful. Thanks

Re: D/S CTV- How long are the legs?
I think your TV is a CTV167. I take it you have the 'skirt' the legs fit into? I think the legs each have a protruding threaded bar for wing nuts. What are the dimensions? I have a stand here but I think it's for a later TV, though the legs themselves might be the same.

Re: D/S CTV- How long are the legs?
Thanks Glyn- help much appreciated. Yes of course you're right, , it's a 167, I have the skirt and the legs attach as you describe (I have the screws and nuts).
I actually have a set of legs of the right sort of design, but I am wondering if they are a bit too short. They are 10 inches long (eight inches from floor to bottom of skirt) by 1.25 inches square. |

Re: D/S CTV- How long are the legs?
Hello Steve
If it's any help, here are some photos of the legs on my 25" Bush CTV187CS which dates from 1970. They are a tapered square section and measure just a shade over 11" in length. Hope that's of some use! Steve |

Re: D/S CTV- How long are the legs?
Thanks Steve. That tends to confirm my suspicions that these legs I have here are just slightly too short

Re: D/S CTV- How long are the legs?
PS Steve, is that eleven inches length the total leg length, or the length to the bottom of the skirt?
Thanks |

Re: D/S CTV- How long are the legs?
My legs are much shorter only just over 8" to the top of the stand. Well, not my own legs, obviously...
I assume that's too low for you? |

Re: D/S CTV- How long are the legs?
Many thanks for the kind offer Glyn, but I reckon the ones I've got will do. Now if you've got the switching bits off a Bush d/s tuner I'll bite your hand off!
All the best, Steve |

Are those the keyplates as thay called them - the bits that were a square metal plate with a 'finger'?
I'm sure all mine went years ago but I will check just in case. |

Re: D/S CTV- How long are the legs?
No I have those thanks Glyn. It's two sub assemblies of sliding bars on the top and the bottom of the tuner. These bars are moved by those key plates you mention. The top bars operate the Bowden cable to the IF, the bottom bars operate the band switch in the tuner. Heaven knows why someone went to all the trouble to remove them just to achieve single standard operation.

Re: D/S CTV- How long are the legs?
That is odd. Back in the day we used to just remove the keyplates and unclip the bar on the monos. Perhps your mod made the buttons easier to press? I'll keep an eye out but I only have one set using this tuner - a Murphy white A640 - and it's all in one piece, I'm afraid.

Re: D/S CTV- How long are the legs?
I don't want to sound too daft . but are the parts the same on the tuners in the colour and monochrome sets? because i cant remember as its been a while. but if they are then i have a few tuners i could break for parts if they would be of use.
Cheers Neil. |
