Hacker Rambler GP19
I have recently acquired this battery record player and I find that with a fresh set of PP9 batteries the volume is low and the sound is of poor quality.
Has anyone got any pointers as to what I should check first, as I have to admit I am not all that familiar with transistors! The base and treble control work as they should. Regards Trevor. |

Thanks Brassbits,
I have checked the cartridge on another amplifier and it is fine. I have also tried feeding a signal from my mobile phone into the Rambler amplifier and the volume is still well down. Regards Trevor. |

Re: Hacker Rambler GP19
Have you test equipment say audio sig gen, scope?
Check the current consumption of the amplifier then signal trace through the stages of the amp, check voltages on the transistors. Exactly the same way you would fault find on a valve amp. There a some electrolytic coupling capacitors that could have gone low in value.
