Pet 4032 and 8050 floppy.
Here is my refurbed PET and floppy drive ..
No longer in this arrangement, so an old photo. ..and yes - that is it running space invaders. A lot of work went into this refurb..and one of the I/O pins on the user port was looped back inside and an amplifier/speaker fitted driven by the toggled I/O pin to produce basic sound. The 8050 drive had a psu fault on the PCB (which is basically a compter in its own right) ..both floppy drive units faulty and stripped down and rebuilt them Now working just fine. I did have some help restoring the actual PET with Dave Curran at Tynemouth software to bounce ideas off. Pity about the screen burn but I assume it had a hard life in Chemist shop. ..as a prescription app is the burn in. One day maybe I'll find a replacement crt but I aint holding my breath. rgds VS Last edited by ViperSan; 22nd Jun 2019 at 7:27 pm. |

The Commodore PET is always the one that got away from me.
Always fancied one but never found one near enough or at the reasonable price to justify it . |

Re: Pet 4032 and 8050 floppy.
I have 2 PETs - an original 2001-8 (chicklet keyboard & built in tape) that my dad & I bought in 1979ish and a 2032 (32k & business keyboard) that a cousin gave to me about 15 years ago. Both are awaiting restoration.

Re: Pet 4032 and 8050 floppy.
First job when restoring a PET is change that mains filter cap behind the switch and socket ..
When it bursts ...and it will, if not at first power up then certainly it will eventually. The smell is horrendous.. believe me, the smell hung around the hourse for well over 3 weeks. rgds VS |
