Re: Girl Guide Badges and radio.
3.75p then.
Published around 1950, so still reasonable at £1.22 in inflation allowed terms.

O yes it's old nine pence. I still have it somewhere under all
the other pre, pre stuff.

Re: Girl Guide Badges and radio.
How about a scan of the 'contents' page? Would be interesting to see the subjects covered, mixture of practice and theory!

Re: Girl Guide Badges and radio.
I had the Boy Scouts "Firemaking" badge and the radio one (showed my 0C44 reflex radio), failed the cooking! These days having a firemaking badge may fit the "information likely to be of use to terrorism" thing. No girls in our troop, it was the 70's and I was only 10 or so.

Re: Girl Guide Badges and radio.
I've just had a look on the Scouts website, there is an Electronics badge (partnered with the IET) and although I'm not a fan of the Scouts movement, it does look good. Aimed at 10-14 year olds, covers soldering, safety, knowledge of components and circuits, and measurements with a multimeter. I didn't see anything about having to make a project build.
The American scouts organisation apparently DOES have a radio badge (originated in 1923). |
