What has he got
My neighbour asked me if I could tell him anything about this. It came from an old barn he was helping to clear out today. I can tell him nothing so can you help me out please. The stamp on the back is L11146.
Thanks |

Re: What has he got
That looks like an early GPO 121, note the early type dial with small label.

Re: What has he got
I know little about phones, but isn't that a name /model plate under the microphone?

Re: What has he got
The dial label reads
'In case of difficulty dial 0' and below 'for other information see directory' The plate below the mouthpiece has nothing on it. The brass finger stop says Pat 178936 |

Re: What has he got
I would agree with Darren that it's an early Tele No.121 on which the solid back Transmitter No.1 has been replaced by the later Transmitter No.22

There's also a picture here http://www.britishtelephones.com/gec/k8384.htm of a GEC "Peel Conner" telephone which looks very similar.

Re: What has he got
I think you've nailed it down there David. As Terry lives in a coal mining county it makes sense.

Re: What has he got
Many thanks for all your information. It was in a old barn but I am not sure if it was fitted in or just stored there. I will pass on this information to him. Any thoughts on value please. The 'giver' does not want anything for it but my neigbour intends to keep it and will donate its worth to a local charity he is involved with.

Re: What has he got
121s go on ebay for around 75-150 depending on condition, I've not seen an ATM one like that on ebay before, but I'd imagine the pricing would be similar.

It also might be an idea to see if there's a diagram inside, and if so photograph it and send it to Bob Freshwater, to make the record more complete
