Cossor Melody Maker Model 524 Cabinet. FOC.
I picked this radio up a couple of years ago, the innards were shot but the Bakelite cabinet is in excellent condition, no cracks or chips in it at all, same with the back panel, the glass station panel is also in very good condition.
I had intended to put a Bluetooth speaker inside and play 50's music though it, but it's a project that has been on the back burner now for too long, so... If anyone can use the what I have here {in Cleveleys, Lancashire} it's FREE and ready to go, but would prefer local pick up as I'd hate to see it damaged in transit. I'd rather give the cabinet {and the other components} away then scrap them off, it's a really nice / character radio, so one way or another I'd like to know it will find its voice again. Bob. |

Would you consider splitting the back and the case? I have a set which is good order and a good case but the back is missing.

Hello Malcolm,
Well, thanks for being honest about what you need, my problem is {respecting the radio} I or someone would be left with the cabinet without a back for it :-( As you'll have seen from the photo's the cabinet and the back are in excellent condition, they last thing I want to do is orphan one for the sake of the other. Hope you'll understand. Bob. |

Re: Cossor Melody Maker Model 524 Cabinet. FOC.
Hello Bob,
I have a 523, which is the same thing but in a wooden cabinet with a magic eye added. A slightly more expensive and better-sounding set, but the cabinet on mine is very battered and looks tired in spite of my best efforts. Please could you therefore consider me for this, but I'm afraid I would have to ask and pay you for p&p. However, I think that with reasonable packing, it would stand a good chance of surviving intact; I've had a couple of this exact model sent through the post, complete with chassis, which arrived unscathed. Sans chassis, I think the risks would be lower still. Obviously, I'll stand down if someone more local can make use of it, or if it's not something you could do Thank you for reading, Nick. Hello Nick,
Is it just the cabinet that you need ? if so then it might be two birds with one stone as Malcolm is in need of the back panel, I could pack and ship the cabinet to you with the back panel and then maybe you and Malcolm could come to some agreement. Not sure if we can send PM's in here ? if so we could exchange contact details. But in the meantime consider the cabinet to be yours, it's in excellent shape, that's why I'd go out of my way to save it from just gathering dust, or ending up on the tip. Bob. |

Let me know if that would work for you, if so we can sort the P&P out between us and get the components on their way. Bob. |
