Default Your TV collection...

Show us your TV collection! I have just posted a new album of some of the TV sets in my collection. I have given the workshop a good dust and tidy up as it had become a bit of a "dumping ground" over the last few months.
I decided enough was enough and had a junk slinging session followed by a good dusting and hoovering.
I still have the sets above the bench to clean and tidy but I can't climb up on the bench at the moment my knee is still a bit fragile !
The sets in the workshop are the sets I remember fondly from my youth and early days of work. There are others I would like but old colour sets take up a lot of space!
So come on... create an album! Show us your tellies!

Rich.
P.S Attached is a picture I didn't have room for in the album.

No it's a typo from Dave. The Decca is a 1952 model 1000 black and white of course. It has a 4' X 3ft silver screen that hung from the 'picture rail' a feature of houses until quite recently. It's a Plessey chassis. Regards, John.

It is indeed a Decca 1000. Apologies for the missing zero, which I failed to spot.

Some nice sets there! I Love the Regentone Dave, I think the Thorn is a 1400 I had many back in the day...

I have a couple of TV22s myself, one was the first full restoration of a vintage TV set that I did many years ago which has since packed up!
The other was found nearly 30 years ago in a Spalding TV shop which had closed. I bought all of the stock most of which was useful as it was still fairly current at the time. However then we found this old disused workshop frozen in time full of 1950s parts, radios, tubes and this TV22! I took the TV22 and left the rest... I wish now I had rescued more! That set is completely untouched and unrestored.

My collection. Acquired from November of 2018 with the Hitachi CTP213 until some time this month with the Sony KC1330UB. (Sony photo edited to show the set more than on screen image, in person it has a brilliant picture and tube)

Most sets work, a few have their faults, only the Amstrad is dead, but I'm slowly learning to repair them all.

If only I had more space!

Not really enough to be a collection:

Universum FK100R used to be my workbench telly over 30 years ago, battery/mains pack missing, and top control knobs missing, not sure what happened to them.

National TR-505G Commando got it as a stripper, changed my mind, worker.

Crown 5TV-65R didn't even remember I had this, worker.

ALBA Can't recall what model, rehomed from a forum member, some repair/maintenance done when I got it, exercised regularly, just to keep it alive.

Excuse the dust!

Here's a group shot of my bigger sets, as my handheld ones are in storage.

I'll be replacing the Pye Rambler 12 with the 14.

Here’s some shots of my ‘pile’ throughout the years, the first ones are from my old workshop that was in a 1970’s brick built garage, we moved in 2015 to a house that had no useful outbuildings, so I had to build my own! I built a big 16’x8’ wooden shed, with 50mm insulation in the walls and ceilings, which is way better than the old garage was, it’s lovely in there all year round, with just a 1kw greenhouse fan heater. Unfortunately it’s not quite as big as the old garage! So a fair pile of my stuff is still in storage, we also don’t have access to the loft here (yet!) so all the stuff I had stashed in the loft at our old house has ended up either in storage or in my shed, which also ate quite a bit of space. I got ‘furloughed’ for a month this year, which gave me a great excuse to tidy up and re-jig stuff in my workshop, which made it much better, got rid of a load of rubbish and made better use of the storage boxes I have in a cupboard. I haven’t got any photos of the tidied workshop! Maybe I’ll take some later today.

Regards
Lloyd

1st 3 photos are the old workshop, 4th is what was in storage when we moved, last is the new workshop when I started tidying it!

I have posted some of these before. Most work, I tested some of them recently. I like 1970s/1980s Japanese portables...

That TR20 is a superb piece of late 1940s product design. I bet it sounded good too, with those two 6.5" speakeers!

Just to clarify, it uses one speaker for the television sound and the other for the three-band radio* mounted in the top.

*The television and radio are electrically completely separate other than being connected to the same mains lead. The radio uses the chassis of the Regentone A122 (of which I also have a separate example).

Hi! Could you share some photos of your TV22? Having such a set, frozen in time, must be really fascinating.

A coincidence that you should ask! I have just taken some pictures of the rest of my collection. The TV22 with the converter on the top is the restored one. the TV22 above the Pye is the unrestored one. The Pye is also convertible to colour... I bought that colour converter from Harpenden some time ago I remember an episode of Coronation street where Eddie bought one for Hilda!
I also have the magnifier that came with the Pye how the owner used that I don't know! what with the purple screen and then a purple magnifier all of the programmes must have been rose tinted.. no glasses required!
