Default Pilot Jack and a mystery cabinet

My wife spotted the radio on a Facebook "buy sell swap" page and liked the look of the cabinet. The owner said it had come from a house clearance but otherwise didn't know much about it. I could see that it was a Pilot model from the 1950s. The owner had already switched it on and muffled hissing and crackling was coming from the speaker. Back home, a closer examination revealed that the cabinet had come from a different model of radio and someone had cleverly fitted a "Pilot Jack" chassis and front inside. I haven't had a proper look at the radio yet but can anyone identify the mystery cabinet? The original speaker would have been fitted in the bottom of the cabinet and the back bears a plate stating it is a Model C10a. (My wife has already planned which ornaments are going on top of it).

Marconi C10A. Forum or general Google search will reveal all.

A useful feature of the original setup is that you can close the doors and still get unmuffled sound.....

Perhaps move the speaker to the original location- the conversion looks a bit iffy round the edges with the doors open.

Thanks, I did try a Google search but nothing relevant came up. Yes, the conversion is a bit of a squeeze. When I get it all working I might try moving the speaker and fitting a different mains transformer so that the chassis is no longer "live".
