Simple question, about the "Brandes" bit of the name.
Do you pronounce it "Brands" or "Brandeez"? |

Pretty sure when I worked at ITT-KB in Hastings during my gap year it was Brands or perhaps Branduz.

I thnk that in most European languages it would be Brand-ez.
Knowing the nationality of the gentleman concerned would make it easier. Tony.

I suspect that, as with the derivation of "OK" or "Kilroy", there may be a number of "definitive" answers! I'd be inclined to pronounce it as Brand-es (short 'e', soft 's') but English argot is infamous for making a meal of foreign-origin words (Elephant and Castle, Jerusalem artichoke). I always used to smile faintly at the way the uninitiated would pronounce Weber (the fuel systems manufacturer, not the composer) as if they were German rather than Italian.

Appended to Kolster we all know what is meant. KB is much easier!

It was unusual to say the whole name, as per Bill's post we just said KB.

I have never heard it called anything but Brands. I was a KB/ITT dealer and the rep always called it Brands. J.
