Panasonic RA-6500 records but no playback - UK Vintage Radio Repair and Restoration Discussion Forum

Hi guys,

Panasonic RA 6500 AM/FM Cassette Stereo Circa 1978

This one records but does not playback..I know this because I played back a radio recording made on it on another RA-6500 and it played perfectly.

Things I checked and did:

Verified all wires connected to r/p head

Deoxit the remote wire rec/play switch and jiggled it 50 times.

No VU movement on either channel with playback, Recording from radio: Both move

What can I do next?
