Default WHAT am I ??

Hyas peeps...... Now this is a VERY long shot......zillions to one... but I know that somewhere out there is the answer.
I bought a module from an Israeli supplier on Ebay..... It looks VERY interesting..I bought it for the Murata 455 Khz mechanical filter, which was cheaper than buying one without the gubbins... and I thought it looked interestin.. as Steve Davis would say.
I contacted the seller to try and establish its identity and maybe a... ahem.. circuit..but unfortunately they had no idea.
It is obviously VHF / UHF I think its a TX/RX..there is a block of 9 cans which suggest a 3 x helical filter and on the underside on IC is clearly marked and is a NBFM detector IC.
It maybe amateur band or commercial or military..... but hopefully one of you members may know.

Doesn't look military to me. Messy wiring and all those commercial electrolytics.

Looks a bit like the insides of an AOR AR3000, I don't think it is though.

Ha! Proved myself wrong. It is!

Does it have any part-numbers etched on the PCB?

There was a thread here not that long back about a similar board which - from memory - turned out to be part of a cellphone data-installation.

...And that's why I love this forum. Post a picture of some completely nondescript PCB here and there is almost certainly someone who can tell you what it is.

It's that kind of place. I had one in the shed with the lids off!

Well that was a well spent £24 inc postage....Full schematic from the tinternet...so all I have to do now is figure out some uses for the miriad of parts.. assuming they are not dead....

Looks very similar to my AOR2002, but I would not have guessed where the PCB was from.
How lucky was it that Jon had one with case off!
Amazing.

I had a similar result a couple of years ago. I bought the RF/IF board salvaged from a Yaesu FT736R for just a few quid as a 'buy it now' on ebay. I can't believe someone else didn't snap it up. I've used several classic RF parts from it already and there are plenty more on the board. There are a couple of PLL based synthesisers on there too. An absolute bargain!

I wouldn't be sure that the board didn't come from some earlier AOR set.

Mine has some dealer fitted mods which added yet another 455kHz filter and an IF buffer output board.
For sure it is the same basic thing, so I just got lucky!

I notice I have some top side silk screen detail that one does not have between the helical filters and the edge of the PCB. Except when I look again there it is. Wrong again HI!

Hi Jon and Jeremy.. Which ever...I have a very good idea what stuff is now..some of the active devices look very useful...Whoever did the CAD for that pcb... maybe a collective effort, had his / her job certainly cut out.. I wonder how many prototypes were made before acceptance..as it is there are a couple of "additions". I wonder if the seller has the PLL VFO pcb ?? might be worth an ask.
