µTek Restoration: the 213
it is always the same with this cuties: The recharchable NiCd Batteries are rotten and you buy the scope "not working", what else ...
Tek made 5 of them, here are the differents and batteries. 211 = 1Ch .5MHz it use 2x 5-Pack of AA Type NiCd 212 = 2Ch .5MHz it use 2x 5-Pack of AA Type NiCd 213 = 1Ch 1MHz it use 2 pcs. of D Type NiCd 214 = 2Ch .5MHz storage, it use 2x 5-Pack of AA Type NiCd 221 = 1Ch 5MHz it use 2x 5-Pack of AA Type NiCd All of them except the 213 have a common problem: The both battery packs are standing on the lowercase board. When they make leakage the acid soup will flow in the electronics and destroy there something. The restoration of that is good to bump the head on the table ! Tek 213 have 2 of the fat D Cells, and large holes in the board for them. So, when this become leakage, the acid soup will flow in the case cover and you can hope the boards are allready. This is the second 213 in my collection, buyed "not working", from the bay. It was expensive, they are mostly expensiv. Battery: RIP Plug from Batterie: destroyed a missing knob POS missing the hook (no problem) missing the AC Adaptor for NEMA to the national AC Plug (no problem) missing the pouch (no problem, we make a rebuild here very closed to the original) Repairs: the plug, + new NiCd D Cells a lot of washing. Tests: DMM all ranges, Beam all ranges, Charging Voltage Tek ON and Tek OFF = 2,58V at the batteries = OK. and here are some pictures. The family picture is missing the 211, you see there from left to right: 212, 213, 214, 221 and the little DSO 222 greetings Martin
