Re: Which valve is missing? late 30's radio
That's a good point. I believe they were more popular in Europe.

Re: Which valve is missing? late 30's radio
Hello all again
Now that I think I know what I am looking for, I will do a few sensible checks to see if I have some viability with the rest of the set. ie are the transformer and rectifier still working? Stuart is correct, there are a few AL4's on French eBay so hopefully they will be some later Thanks everybody for the help, its always impressive, if sometimes a little embarrassing after looking for hours myself before posting! many thanks again Philip |

Hi Philip, looks an interesting set. I have a good selection of Ct based valves here when you find out what type it is,
Cheers, Ed |

Re: Which valve is missing? late 30's radio
Mazda Octal valves were 4v and they were used in Murphy radios up to around 1955. There are still plenty of PEN45s around as these were Mazda's post war answer to the American 6V6GT.

Plenty of mainland Europe sets used the 4V edge valves up to 1950. Probably later in Eastern Europe.
