I was looking through a repair & service book last night which has circuit diagrams for approx. 500 radios and this arrangement was used on one of the sets. I also noticed that on some of the circuits the secondary/low voltage coil of the output transformer was grounded to the chassis but on other sets it isn't. What is the function of this?
