I believe it's the high caustic content of dishwasher detergent that is the problem rather that the temperature.

Sounds like it would also need an overcoat of some sort of clear lacquer to make it durable enough for front panel use.

I've used Microsoft Publisher (part of the 'Office' suite) for many front panels. All the fonts you'd ever need and then some - if you have them on your hard drive, of course - plus shapes, colours, lines, layers etc. You have to create your own divisions on circles, if that's a requirement, but it is a basic program and very easy to become familiar with.
