Re: Capacitor replacement questions
another two questions: has anyone had any experience with the "metalized paper, miniprint" (sic) variety of caps? also my deck has something apparently known as "styroflex" capacitors.

Re: Capacitor replacement questions
Most paper caps had foil plates and a paper dielectric. Metallised paper caps had the plates formed by evaporating the metal onto the paper. They were more compact, and had lower inductance as well as being self healing to an extent. They were higher quality paper caps, but they're still paper and subject to its problems.
Styroflex are high quality polystyrene caps Quote:
Google and you'll find a lot on them. Some people think they are the last word in caps for audio use. They're often used in scope timebase circuits. I doubt that they will cause you any problems. Pete. |

Re: Capacitor replacement questions
another question:
several caps are in the same can. I don't know how to handle this, or even why the manufacturer would do such a thing. Anybody know how to approach replacement? |
