Default full data sheet for VR150

I have the basic characteristics but does anyone please have full data sheet for this voltage regulator, preferably the JAN version, but otherwise any alternatives manufactured in the early 1940s, please.

Critically, I'm looking for max operating voltage (not strike voltage), and max decoupling cap value.

Thanks!

Would think its 150V which stabilizes + - 5volts

How about this, found via the always excellent TDSL program.

This seems quite complete.

http://www.mif.pg.gda.pl/homepages/f...41/g/GL874.pdf

It came from the Duncan's Amps Tube Data Sheet Locator page.

The max applied voltage is 185V.

There's no mention of decoupling cap value, as far as I can see. It describes a relaxation oscillator in outline, but doesn't discuss cap values in detail. Presumably, a sufficiently large cap in that circuit would destroy the gas regulator in no time.

I've got a Brimar book which has a page on these tubes and gives a few additional details such as the temperature coefficient. It gives the max strike voltage as 180, and says that should always be provided to ensure striking throughout life.

The page notes that there must always be sufficient resistance to limit operating current to 40mA under steady state conditions but that during warm up, operation at 100mA is permissible but that the valve must be operated for several minutes at normal current afterwards.

I'd be inclined to do the sums and make sure that the valve doesn't conduct more than 40mA on peaks.

Pete.

From my Brimar Data Book

Min Starting Volttage = 180v

Operating Voltage = 150v

Min Current = 40mA

Max Current = 100ma

Regulation = 5.5v (min to max currents)
