NVCF Warwickshire, Sun 13th May
The annual National Vintage Communications Fair at the Warwickshire Event Centre on the Fosse Way, just outside of Royal Leamington Spa - a reminder that it's less than two weeks away!
Over 200 stalls all indoors, free parking, refreshments available all day! BRIMAR are bringing a couple of the valve manufacturing machines to display that they have rescued from Eastern Europe and bought back home to the UK to restore and ultimately start valve manufacturing here again! See https://www.nvcf.org.uk for location/times/prices/info, etc. Here's a short video of the 2015 event as a taster, turn up your speakers and enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KofWfHXZWdo Everybody's welcome, see you there!

Re: NVCF Warwickshire, Sun 13th May
Is it sad that even though I’ve been coming to the NVCF since 2004, I still get excited like a kid at Christmas when this event comes round?!
I’ll be there again, as usual, buying more stuff that I can’t possibly find room for! Regards Lloyd |

Re: NVCF Warwickshire, Sun 13th May
As usual Brian, Jeffrey, and I will be raising money for the Dulwich Vintage Wireless Museum on the NVCF Bring and Buy stall. The B&B will probably be in the same location as last year, ahead of you as you come in. Look for a B&B flag.
There are 2 ways to sell stuff on the B&B. 1: Donation with 100% going to the Vintage Wireless Museum. Easiest to deal with - just hand stuff over.. 2: Commission Sale with 10% commission to the Museum. Please use the attached list (or equivalent) if you have more than 3 or 4 items to sell. This speeds check-in hugely. Please label each item with a serial number and price. Leave space for us to add a unique letter in front of the number. Please remember to collect unsold items before close of play - we can't store them! We raised about £1000 last year for the museum, thanks to your generosity. See you there, Jeremy

Re: NVCF Warwickshire, Sun 13th May
It will be my first time , so I'm really looking forward to it , although I wont be getting there too early as I don't want to stand in a queue to get in hahaha.
Hopefully I might come back with one or two nice projects. |

Re: NVCF Warwickshire, Sun 13th May
You very well might pick up a project or two, depending on what you're speciality is. But the queue's there for a reason. It is, in essence, a jumble sale and that thing about early birds and worms does sometimes apply .
Cheers, GJ

Re: NVCF Warwickshire, Sun 13th May
That's very true GJ , but I'm pretty laid back so what will be will be.
I'm the same with car boot sales, I always get there later and pretty much always find something , and if I don't , I just have a nice morning out and save some money hahaha. |

The alternative is to pay the extra and go for the 9:00 entry - which is a more select group!

Re: NVCF Warwickshire, Sun 13th May
I'd say it's true there are bargains at the beginning, but there are also later on as sellers become keener not to take home too much. I've found great things all the way through - there's so much there.

Yes, I agree. I must admit I've never been tempted to pay the early-bird price.

Re: NVCF Warwickshire, Sun 13th May
I love the NVCF, but I always wish there was some way of recognising folks we know from this Forum 'in the flesh', so to speak. Many Forum members don't have their photo as their avatar. Having said that, some people are immediately recognisable!
So if anyone spots me (minus brown coat, flat cap and 1930s spectacles) please do say 'hello'.

Re: NVCF Warwickshire, Sun 13th May
Why dont we have a common point to meet ,say 1230 at the BVWS stall or near?

Re: NVCF Warwickshire, Sun 13th May
Several years ago, when there was a big vintage TV display, we all agreed to meet there at a specific time, and I think at least 20 of us forum members were there.
It would be great if we could do something similar this time. As for time, perhaps 2pm may be better as it is after people have had lunch and before the final look around for late bargains. |

Re: NVCF Warwickshire, Sun 13th May
Agreed, 2pm sounds good. Is there a special display this year, or should we just gather at the BVWS stall?

I'll be there with my avatar badge and will make a point of being at the BVWS stall around 2pm.

Re: NVCF Warwickshire, Sun 13th May
No special display as far as I know. I would suggest near the BVWS stall, but perhaps Greg or another committee member who knows the hall layout plan this year can advise on a good location that is easy to define but not in the way of trading. I have emailed Greg.

Re: NVCF Warwickshire, Sun 13th May
As usual, I will try to remember to bring and wear my badge giving my name (which is also my forum name) and my avatar.
If I manage to keep track of the time, I'll endeavour to be present for the meet-up.

Re: NVCF Warwickshire, Sun 13th May
Greg suggested near the ticket office would be a good place to meet up as it will be quiet then so we won't be in anyone's way. Hopefully see several of you there at 2pm.
