Default Ferguson Studio 6 Cassette speed pot

Hi Guys, working on a Ferguson studio 6 that was in a neglected state. I replaced the belts, cleaned and lubed everything and now it all works, but the cassette player is playing too fast. I found the motor pot, but it only partially works. It doesn't seem to adjust from 1 to 5 o'clock to slow the motor down enough. I've replaced the pot but the operation of the pot is still the same, it speeds the motor but won't let me slow it?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated...

In some Ferguson cassette recorders, the pot controls a circuit to moderate the motor speed.

In some models it's an AC128 transistor. The cassette part of the Studio 6 unit should have the model number label of the cassette unit fitted.

If you can locate that (usually stuck to cassette chassis) then a circuit diagram should be available.
