1970's Dynatron Cordova GR14 Sound Faulty.
I have a 1970's Dynatron Cordova record player. Recently the records only play very quietly, as in hardly audible. I’m not sure if this is related but when it was working, it used to make a thud/crackle noise when turned on as though the speaker was working, since it has stopped working, it doesn’t make this noise when turned on.
Any advice on what the problem might be/how I can fix this would be much appreciated! |

Re: 1970's Dynatron Cordova Sound Faulty.
I suspect the power supply section has failed. It may now need new rectifiers and/or smoothing caps.

If you’re able to point out these parts with reference to the photograph, that would be very helpful and appreciated. |

Re: 1970's Dynatron Cordova Sound Faulty.
Hello and welcome to the forums.
The first thing you need to do is to download the service manual for your player from here:- https://www.service-data.com/product...09/1814/m17609 To get you started I've posted a drawing of the power supply. I suggest you locate the power supply and check that the fuse F1 hasn't blown. If you're going to make any further progress you're going to need a Digital Multimeter (DMM). Plenty of threads on these if you search for them. When you've got one check the DC voltage across SK2 (socket 2) with the player powered up and switched on. Expect to measure at least 22.2 Volts. Does the pilot light illuminate when the player is switched on, assuming it did before the fault developed?
