Re: Campbells Wax...
Google isn't exactly helpful either!
Plenty of hits on places to get unwanted body hair removed, though..... Could be a form of hot melt glue, perhaps?

Re: Campbells Wax...
I used to live near to Dussek in Crayford. They had a few fires that I can recall which lead to the saying every time we heard a fire engine " its Dussek again"

Re: Campbells Wax...
I remember seeing the Dussek Bros small tanker lorries trundle around Dartford when I was young. Could be that tha Campbell’ Wax was used on our favourite “waxies”. I know they did wax products for potting electrical items.

Re: Campbells Wax...
I vaguely remember hearing about Campbell's Wax, but I couldn't find it online for the life of me. Maybe it was a nickname of the product?

Re: Campbells Wax...
I'm assuming this is the same company ...
The Dussek Bros. company was founded in 1850 and the Campbell company, which would later become Claud Campbell Ltd., in 1870. ... Dussek Bros. and the Claud Campbell Co. amalgamated into Dussek Campbell. Dussek Campbellās wax blending was based at Bury but in 1994 the company carried out an evaluation and judged Chorley to be the better site. The Bury site was closed and 20% of their employees relocated and brought their knowledge and expertise over to Chorley. https://keraxhyperdrive.com/about-us/kerax-history/4/ John |

Re: Campbells Wax...
I'd never heard of this wax either or the Company being based in Bury but it might be under a different name. I will ask at the Rammy Heritage Society meeting on Wednesday. Terosyl are perhaps the nearest equivalent with two long term sites-one at Bury Bridge and another off Walmersley Road [Bevis Green very near Ramsbottom]-that one closed in 2014. Same kind of relatively volatile products for example-one of them is T-Cut! There might have been some merger at one point, the dates are a rough match. I can't find anything actually saying where Dussex Campbell was based in Bury, before moving to Chorley, though
I like synchronicity, I was talking about taking items over to Rob's next auction in Chorley [from Rammy/Bury] two weeks ago! Dave Dave Last edited by dave walsh; 18th Jun 2018 at 9:01 pm. |

Re: Campbells Wax...
Thanks Lawrence and all the way from Cornwall Yes that part of Bury [near Bury Bridge] was quite industrial. It seems to coincide with the Tetrosyl history as well.
Dave You might be confused as a resident of Texas Legorus! The town of Bury [a part of Greater Manchester] is ten miles North of the City of Manchester. Ramsbottom is one district of Bury and another five miles north but still believes it's in Lancashire. None of these places are in Yorkshire but really quite close [there is a difference].
