Default PYE 1216 found in attic

Hi, my mother has just passed away and clearing out her attic I came across an old friend. It’s a PYE 1216 Stereogram. I used to love listening to records on it in the 70s and think I may keep it and get her running again. Any history on this model would be nice as all I can find out is it was built in 1970. Can you upgrade the speakers if they are perished etc??
Do you think it is safe to plug in after 30+ years being stored?

Thanks for any advice or history.

Alan.

I certainly would not just plug in without a few careful checks first.

Speakers can be replaced if indeed they are duff due to bad (damp) storage.
