Default Peavey series 260 P.A head mains transformer

Hi all,

I have a Peavey series 260 head that was bought from America and l need to replace the mains transformer for a 230v one.

I measured the secondary voltages as 30-0-30 with my avo. Can anyone recommend a suitable replacement. I'm unsure about the wattage. It's a pretty big beast and will need something substantial as a replacement.

Many thanks,
Tim.

For a hard run professional 130W amplifier a 250VA transformer should be bullet proof. You'd probably get away with 150VA in domestic use.

What is the physical size of the transformer? That will give a pretty good guide of its VA rating.

Is it EI or toroid, by the way?

I've answered that last question - shrouded EI, courtesy of google. Just need the physical size.

Is the 30-0-30 the secondary RMS voltage, right?

Hi Tim, you could (assuming there is the space) fit a 240/110v autotransformer, say 250VA. They are quite small and may be cheaper than a new Tx

Is there no makers label giving the max AC power demand?
