Identification of B and O television boards/audio boards - UK Vintage Radio Repair and Restoration Discussion Forum

Hello,

I have been given the gubbins from an old CRT TV. The tube is a Philips A61-120W, but the circuit boards that plug into the CRT have a Bang and Olufsen front plate on them and some very vintage TV looking controls.

The board has several valves on it, and I was hoping someone may be able to help me identify the model of TV the board came from. A quick google of all of the various numbers/writing on the boards shows no results.

Please see attached images. I have not, and will not, attempt to power this on, I'm just interested in knowing the model that the parts came from. I'm aware that this is a tall ask, but hoping the front plate could be of use in identification?

Hi,

The control panel looks a lot like that from a Beovision 1400 (Monochrome), from around 1970. That's all I really know about these TVs.

Many thanks '77, that looks just like the set. I've called the chap that gave it to me and the dates that you gave, and the description of the cabinet (he wanted to keep the cabinet and repurpose it) with the doors that open and then slide into the frame, and it all seems to add up! Thanks for your help

The date code on the tube says 1969, so the set would likely be in a 1969 or 1970 catalogue.

I can't really read teh third character after K9, that's the month of manufacture of the tube. The set usually isn't much younger than the tube.

Shame about the cabinet. Are you planning to build it a new cabinet?

It's a pity the original TV was broken up in this way, it was quite a rare set.

If you don't intend to use the parts yourself, please don't throw them away, but offer them to an enthusiast. (There's a section on this forum for sets and parts offered.) The A61-120W tube is a standard part that will fit almost any 24" black and white TV from the 1970s. The circuit boards are specific to the B&O TV from which they were removed, but contain many standard components which could also be useful. Sadly, don't expect to get much or any money for this lot, bearing in mind that the parts are untested and someone will have to collect them from your rather remote location.

It's very likely the tube will be OK. I'm glad in a way the innards didn't end up in the skip, but it is a shame it was broken up, probably to put an LCD set in the cabinet.
Of course it's a black and white set, but being B&O is far better than its contemporaries.
Do hang onto it. If you do intend to get rid of it I'm not far away, but unfortunately it's not something I particularly need. Mind you, that's true of most of my stuff!
