Valve H.T. from a single battery, module wanted
I bought a PRC-6 Banana phone and am hoping to have it on 6mtrs in the future.
The problem is the battery of course. I've built a cardboard battery box to house all the cells and batteries required. But recently the nice guy who sold me the radio also gave me a little PCB from Slovakia I seem to recall, it is only about an inch square and delivers about 120v from 12v. I was on holiday at the time and some how it has got mislaid during my travels. Does anyone know where they are obtainable from, I've search the web with no luck to far. Thanks Nick |

Firstly, you might want to take a look at this thread https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/...ight=vibrators. The entity you seek was originally called a vibrator, though more recently, the term 'inverter' is more applicable. Regarding your Slovak contact, I think that I may also have come across him (via this forum??) 3 or 4 years ago and got two of his units (sorry but they are not available), but I cannot recall any more details at the moment. Will see if I can find the pm's.

It seems like I've confused Slovakia with Australia The two vibrators I obtained were from a member called Georger in Australia; see posts #87 and 93 of August 2012 in the thread I called up above. Sadly, he has not been on the forum for over a year.

I would think they will be advertised somewhere. 10 PP3's at a time is going to prove quite expensive to run. Nick |

I never thought about using a NIXIE PSU, just found this and it seems to fit the bill.

Re: Valve H.T. from a single battery, module wanted
The PRC-6 takes multiple voltages with 45v HT on RX and both 45v/90v HT on TX. I have a french military solid state power supply designed for this set that takes a single D cell and 4 PP3 batteries. Part no. ER-38-A.
Yours for the cost of postage if it puts another PRC-6 back on the air. I bought it for a cosmetically pristine german version that seems to have every RX valve heater o/c. Goodness knows what was done to it. The cost of replacing the entire lineup is more than it's worth to me. Regards, Rob
