Default PMR equipment- what to do with?

Hi all
I'm posting this on here on behalf of the widow of the late Tony Howard, G1TKX who will no doubt be known to members in the Sheffield area. Tony amassed a large amount of ex PMR equipment, of which he was an enthusiast and collector, particularly of Pye stuff. Tony was a good friend (and my best man) and some of this kit was rescued from the skip when I used to work at Pye's. Perhaps this post should go in sets for sale, but I haven't got a clue as to the value!!

I haven't catalogued everything there is yet, but I wanted to get a feel for whether you think any of it would be of interest to anyone. Sonia isn't interested in any monetary value, she would however rather it went to good use rather than for scrap.

There are Vanguard, Cambridge (various types), Westminster (various types), Olympic, Europa MF25, Reporter MF6 and M290 mobiles, PF1 (large quantity, some on amateur repeater freqs) PF2, PF5 and P5000 handportables, chargers, accessories.... Also a lot of spares, microphones, manuals, and some crystals for PMR and amateur frequencies. I apologise for the poor pictures, I had little time and the light was fading quickly.

So, what advice would you give regarding how I dispose of this equipment?

How about these people?

http://www.pyemuseum.org/

Older Pye gear is becoming collectable so selling it off piece-meal might be a way to go?

Get in contact with the Pye Museum: http://www.qsl.net/gm8aob/

There's always the chance that something in this collection may have an 'interesting' history!

[I just wish I'd managed to save from scrappage an example of the Pye-manufactured PMR HF/VHF control-unit that was fitted in Range-Rovers and got nicknamed the "Frog Box" because it was green]

Many thanks for all your answers and PM's. The next step is to catalogue it all and report back to everyone who expressed an interest.

Thanks
Alan

Hi Alan,

I mentioned your posting to a non-member who is looking out for a Handi-Cambridge and I see there is one in your photos? I'd be grateful for a copy of the equipment list.

Hi All,

Sorry for the delay; I have to say that I underestimated the task of cataloguing the entire collection. Please see the attached spreadsheet which is in Excel 2010/13 XLSX format. You can use the drop-downs in each column to filter what you see.

Also attached is a PDF version of the list, for those with no or old versions of MS Office.

I took photographs of most of the stuff; please ask if you want to see any of them.

There are also a huge number of Pye service manuals both original and photocopies; if you are looking for something specific please just ask and I'll have a look.

Cheers
Alan

Hi Alan,

I have tried several times to contact you via P/M about the Handi-Cambridge but a P/M from you today leads me to believe you may not be getting my messages, either via P/M or direct. I'm getting your P/Ms without problem.

Yes, same here. Hoping to take delivery today! I believe he's quite busy, so the delay is understandable

I suspect were just too impatient for our goodies!
