A before and after on a Rock Ola amp
This is one of many of these amps I have restored , the two capacitors in the ht doubler cct are now in the cardboard tube 2x 220mf plus 4x 22uf replacing the other capacitor on top these are kept for the looks , a must on these amps is to solder a wire from chassis to the earth tag on the multi way tag strip, this is a cure for hum when the earth tag becomes high resistance ,to the chassis due to corrosion , the owner does the printing , Its good for a few more years now . Mick.

Hi Mick, I have restored and repaired quite a few of these myself. That looks a great job and should bring joy to the ears for years to come!

Looks good. In this neck of the woods there's a shop that restores jukeboxes and they usually gut the amps and fit chinese class-d modules off ebay. Which I think is a shame.

I think the word 'restores' might be a tad generous. What the OP's done IS a restoration!

Lovely! Clearly you have put loads of time and effort and skill into this. I only hope the owner appreciates your 'recovery' of what looks to have started off as a bit of a basket-case.
I'm fascinated by the plastic 3-pin Molex-type connectors - not used to seeing them in valve-era equipment.

Re: A before and after on a Rock Ola amp
I wonder if there's a decent way of reproducing the original chassis labeling? It's a shame that the lettering is usually sacrificed when the chassis are refinished, seems to me it's a bit of a perennial problem with projects like this.
Steve.

Re: A before and after on a Rock Ola amp
Regarding the lettering , they have been reproduced as original in this case the owner will stick them on ,they are the peel and stick type , I like to do them normally then a couple of coats of clear lacquer does the job , Mick.

Excellent Mick, you are way ahead of me - what's the peel and stick type? Is it a printer friendly clear self adhesive film?
Steve.

No it is properly called dry print lettering the most common of which is Letraset but cheaper versions can be found eBay.

Re: A before and after on a Rock Ola amp
Here is an example of the lettering, even better when a few coats of clear lacquer is applied, Mick.
