Default Spring Doohickeys

Folks,

Can anyone tell me what these spring clip doohickey things are called and where I might acquire a supply. In life they cling on to a spigot holding a bezel on the front of a Cossor Melody Maker 500.

Cheers

Simon

Very similar to Spire Nuts.

You will find them listed as Star Washers.

Star washer is another name for a shake proof washer, also known as a serrated washer for use with a nut on a screw or bolt.

What we have here are Starlock washers.

They get called many things, though not in polite company.

I call them all the names under the sun as they can be b@"£$%^&*s to remove! There is also a rectangular version and they are used to hold all manner of things in place, including speakers and speaker grilles.

I had to get some of these for my car. I found the best thing to look for was 'shaft retainer' or 'push fit retainer'. Here is a reasonable selection from Bresco:

I have fitted hundreds of starlock washers on braking systems over the years and have never known the item in the OPs pics called a starlock, doesn't much look like a star.

It appears a more modern version of the OP's sought-after piece, as others including Station-X have mentioned, is a round push-fitting with the registered mark 'Starlock'. They're for retaining shafts without threading and locknuts. The 'Starlock' type are made by this outfit: https://www.bakfin.com/

While the OP's object isn't a 'Starlock', but a generic form of the same idea, it looks like Lawrence's catalogue has the exact type as ssaunders is looking for on the page he mentioned. A good resource, Lawrence!
