Default Codar AT5 power cable.

Hi guys, does anyone know what the 9 pin plugs connecting the power supply to the codar at5 transmitter are called. I have hunted the internet for the past two days and my eyes are going square, with no luck. There is a thread on this site from a few years ago with links to them on an ebay page. of course links long since redundant. Is there anyone there can put me out my misery

As far as I know its just a B9A valve socket on the back of the AT5.

So you need a B9A plug

Yes it is. And it will bite you! Open pins with HT on them.

I have an AT5 and I would recomment changing it over to a more sensible arrangement. They have a way of falling out and giving you a shock as you plug it back in without switching off the psu. A bad habit though

I agree, having found out the hard way! I think that the Labgear 160 Twin had a similar arrangement. Using an 8 way microphone plug and socket would be a better way and wouldn't require enlarging the hole for the chassis socket.

Be safe!

Am I reading the schematic correctly? There are only 4 pins used?

After giving it some thought, although it would be nice to have the original plugs, the plugs on eBay would cost more than i paid for the radio. I think the cheaper and more importantly the safer solution would be to hard wire a 4 core cable into the power supply with a 4 pin female on the other end going into the transmitter. Does anyone foresee any problems with this plan. Again I am grateful for all the advice from you guys.

You could hardwire the two units together permanently if you wished. Might detract from the resale value though.

Two things, making it safer could be achieved by tethering the plug with a bracket held in by the mounting screws of the socket so reversible and as for the plug why not ask the membership? someone may well have something suitable from old equipment.
At the end of the day its your property so if you want to modify it

Cheers

I think these plugs were made in a variety of designs, I have three different types here in my junk-box. If they are of interest please P/M me and I will send you a photo.
