Re: Golborne VR site
Strange, I've just tried it using my favourites link and the url search bar at the top of the screen doesn't even show up now, all other forums etc are ok, I'll try a re boot, thanks for checking.

Re: Golborne VR site
I've had a certain page of the Golborne forum open on my iPad for weeks with no trouble. Checking the link in #4 works fine for me.

Re: Golborne VR site
I can access the forums now, but I certainly couldn't when I posted in this thread.
Perhaps someone has read this thread and made some changes?

Re: Golborne VR site
Did a re start, clicked on Golborne link in my favourites, immediately a box came up at the bottom of the screen...do you want to save search php...clicked on save, another box came up with...save...or...open...on it, clicked on open, another box came up...do you want this app to open this file...not sure what that meant, anyways clicked on...yes...but couldn't get rid of the box, clicked on the Golborne link in my favourites again and the site came up ok..baffled.
Story today: logged on to GVR this morning along with UKVRR and some other forums, no problem...cutting timber down the woods today so closed down the computer all as per usual, finished my chores later on this afternoon, fire up the computer, all forums came up ok except GVR....So a bit of a mystery to me, me being a computer plonk. Mark Hennessey might read this post, he might know what's what.

Re: Golborne VR site
It seems to work OK for me. Is the problem intermittent?

Re: Golborne VR site
I was trying to read one of Mikes (Crackles) restorations late last week and it just ended up timing out without ever loading the page. Happened over a two day period. Works fine as I write.

Re: Golborne VR site
It is down to funding.
Here we have a slightly more "posh" hosting company funded by sale of data CDs. Over there it is just a cheap hosting company without any additional funding and there is a few drop outs as a result. It is unusual for them to last more than 10 minutes. |

The link in post # 3 is working fine now. Mark Hennesey has posted that there were problems, now resolved.

Re: Golborne VR site
There's no doubt that we ought to find a better host. In the meantime, you can check to see if it's a problem at your end or a problem with the site generally via this link: http://www.isitdownrightnow.com/golb...dio.co.uk.html
It's known that brief outages occur from time to time. By all means drop me or any of the other members of the team an email if you wish, but 99 times out of 100, there's nothing we can do anyway. The forum software and database is in a good state - the problems are virtually always caused by the host. |
