Default Technics SL-BD22D turntable

ok so yesterday i was given a Technics SL-BD22D in good condition apart from no drive. The guy who gave it to me said the motor had packed up, so i removed the deck and underside to have a look, plugged in and it has power in and out of the transformer to the circuit board. All seems ok so I unplugged and tried 9 volts direct to the motor and it runs well. Then tried it again plugged in, and it runs fine for about 45 mins then slows down to a near stop. When it is running slow the speed adjust makes no difference, nor does the speed (45 33)

Does the motor need a little lubrication I wonder?

A test to do: When the turntable is 'cold' can you turn the motor spindle easily (having detached the belt to check this). If so then when the turntable has got to the slowing down/near stop stage can you still turn the motor spindle easily (again having detached the belt to check this) when it is 'hot'. If you cannot then the problem looks likely to be motor bearing lubrication.

Is this one of those belt driven decks with an FG (frequency generator) servo controlled DC motor? If so the problem could be with a component in the servo circuit. The service manual can be downloaded from Vinyl Engine once you've registered.

Many thanks for that advice, I will run the deck up until it slows and check the bearing, also will download the service manual.
