Hopefully , its to do with the tube selector switch stuff, on the selectors there are black plastic discs, the bottom one on mine is slipping round so im trying to work out if its easy just to line it back up. The discs have a black line on them and was wondering if they all just line up when correct if that makes sense

I see the rotary switches .. on other post on the taylor they are the Not
very good type. the black plastic drum is located with a flat on its shaft so
all turn together (or should do) on my tester ,possibly due to an overload
the drum lowered its self and the *knife* type contacts at the top got jammed and the drum was not in the correct position from memory!!
they should all turn together ,,,its a job to see but if you look all the contacts should align,, as mine is on the bench possibly I can have a look if required (I had to drill and pin one off mine)

I think it might be the point in its life to change the rotary out even though its quite a big job but i think it is for the best. The bottom disc is slipping round and the 2 above it look like they have been repaired previously with glue which means i will prob have to damage the top 2 to get to the bottom one anyway

hello all, Yes probably the best way forward ! (if you can get a switch) on my tester, the test selector switch is a wafer type. but all the others are not
the flat on the shaft is small the plastic/nylon a bit soft (glue does not seem to work) good luck,, that's way above my pay grade

Thanks dave, yeah looks like a fiddly job but looking at the plastic it does like its 10 year past its best. Will order a few rotary pots and get it done, suppose if i dont do it now it will just need doing sooner or later

I have a 45B and a 45C, I converted the 45B to 45C specs by replacing the A, B & C selector switches with new 18 position wafer type switches, the hardest part was locating 18 position switches for a reasonable price

Good luck in your hunt for a new switch.
I have a 45C that could do with one new 18 way switch but so far I've been unable to locate a suitable replacement. I've seen one ot two on Ebay but either too big or wrong configutation. So if anyone knows of a source of these it would be good to know.
Highly unlikely that any of these testers are being broken up for spares.

The only viable option that I know is to use 23 position rotary switches with a stop pin at 18 positions, and add new overlays on the panel. 18 position switches are essentially impossible to find.

Blore Edwards do them - the PZ range. You buy the wafers and mechanism separately (you can even select the rotation torque). 2A rated contacts. https://www.blore-ed.com/product-page/pz-wafer-kit

They are the right diameter to fit.
