Default Need a CRT repairing?

Here is an interesting website I've come across -

http://www.ebeaminc.com/index.htm

They say "if your application involves any device with free electrons in vacuum, we can probably help you"

Website appears to be somewhat out of date, having a 2005 copyright date and refers to CRTs still being the dominant display technology in the television market.

It's giving a 'page last modified' 17 April 2009, but whois.com says something on the site was last updated 8 Oct 2010 so looks like it's still an active site.

But this brings up an interesting question; what are we going to do when the very few (one in Europe one in USA?) CRT renovating companies close?

Presumably their main business at the moment is with industrial test equipment that is too specialised/expensive to update to none-CRT technology. For these businesses a few hundred pounds to keep some equipment operating is in nothing compared to replacing it.

Eventually industry will replace their old equipment (or close) and the indirect benefits we have from the CRT renovating companies will go too...

Regards,

Ian

The beauty of this company I suppose is that they do other stuff also, so perhaps the equipment is similar. It may give them a long and healthy life , which may give our tubes the same

One of the problems is that they are in Oregon so shipping costs may be rather prohibitive.

I wonder whether Steve McVoy of the Early Television Foundation has ever held any dialogue with this company. He'd certainly be aware of its existence anyway.

Hopefully Steve will see this thread and make some comments.
