Default Sony ICF-SW100 Cabinet

Hello.

So I have finally purchased one of these iconic Sony sets, having wanted one forever. Good working order and overall physical condition, and I have now carried out the battery spring modification.

One question - the cabinet is showing signs of just starting to go sticky as is common with rubber coatings on cabinets. I know there have been discussions before about how to remove such coatings, and don't need to go over this here, but I do wish to ask if anyone has ever managed to arrest or slow down such degradation when it is at a very early stage. I really don't want to remove it as there is lots of printing on the cabinet back which would be lost and right now it is not so bad as to be a problem when holding or using. Just currently attracting lots of dirt.

I have read about using talcum powder. Has anyone tried this? Any other suggestions?

Many thanks,

Adrian.
