Hi Andy, good luck in finding one, but if all else fails it may ne possible to rewind or replicate,
Have you checked to see if there is an internal fuse within the transformer? These can often be linked out and an external fuse added

Hi Ed, its a bit of a long shot I know. I have thoroughly examined it and cant see anywhere a fuse could be. Replicating it would not be possible, that eight pin connector has various lower voltages. There was evidence of a spilt drink.

Maybe buying a scrapper on eBay or wherever might be the best way forwards.

I am looking at a parts only one right now, described as no audio, but photo shows LCD on and not in protection mode.

These are nice little units and sold for about 200 ISTR, so 30 to resurrect one (assuming no other damage) is probably money well spent.

It does have a good review on What HiFi, otherwise I wouldn't have bothered.

A bit late now, Andy, but I do have the same transformer (same number, anyway) from a scrap RCDM39. It too appeared to have an o/c primary but I was able to fix what looks like a heat fuse close to the black primary connection. So that bit now works but a fault still exists somewhere else on the machine, and I've abandoned it. Yours for the cost of posting if you still need it.

I have several decent transformers out of 70's/80's audio amps that may do the job, what are the secondary voltages? The one's I have usually have something like 45v 0v 45v, 15v 0v 15v & 0v 10v for instance.

The one thing I couldn't find was the secondary voltage, maybe 22v 0v 22v, but can't be sure. Then there is the 8pin connector with various voltages. I am sorted now, thanks.

The second unit in silver, with no audio turned up. The first thing I noticed was the volume was very stiff. Tried it with headphones and there was audio, tried it with speakers and after a few in and outs with the headphone jack came to life. Turning the volume the digital volume number jumped up and down. So put on the black front and was instantly fixed. What HiFi were correct, sounds great.

So before you put the lids back on it would be worth measuring the unknown secondary voltages so you are ready when the next time(!) it happens.
