Re: Murphy 12" V180C console 1950
I like your EHT meter, John. Did you construct it yourself?

Yes Nick. Built it back in the late 60's from a PT design I believe. John.

Shame about the LOPT breaking down, but at least it can be rewound. The Ekco LOPT does work well though, and with no focus drift!

Re: Murphy 12" V180C console 1950
I think the windings are almost identical Mark. The line output valve in the Ekco [6P28] is the same as early versions of the 180 and the scan coils are low impedance [15ohm]. These early flyback systems are basically the standard output transformer used with receivers employing mains EHT, plus an overwind and maybe a heater winding for the rectifier. I will get it rewound as it would be a pity to modify the Murphy in such an important area. I'll give it a good soak tonight. John.

Excellent John,
That Ekco LOPT is rock steady! I agree with what you are saying though, it's very important to keep the set original. I can't wait to see the chassis back in the cabinet now that it is all working and has proved its reliability. Cheers

Re: Murphy 12" V180C console 1950
It's now gone a full 18 hours on soak and not a flicker! Focus has held so I will tidy up the temporary transformer [I will post pics] and fit the chassis back in the cabinet. I will attempt to do this by the weekend but don't hold yer breath! Thanks everyone for you encouraging comments. Now over to David's...Regards, John.
