Default decent quality dc power connectors

bit of a modern query this, but a good pool of knowledge on here.

one of the laptops at home ( HP pavilion DV8000) has a stupidly sized ( I think its 4.3mm) power connector. the original moulded connector has failed, and the only replacement available in that size seems to be from maplins, of course it's made in china and up to usual standards, and have gone through 3 connectors in the last 12 months.

does anyone know a source of decent power connectors ??

Try Switchcraft. Also Mouser Electronics has this kind of thing. Are you breaking the connectors? Maybe you should try to fabricate some kind of shield or just remember to unplug before you stow it.
