Is that an AVO?
A friend is selling this...
I have only this photo. I think I am reading AVO, but not sure. I do not have more info at the moment. |

Re: Is that an AVO?
It most certainly is an AVO.
It is an analogue meter with an 11 meg ohm impedance on all ranges like a DVM. Mine has returned to the to do plie after it broke down again after restoration. https://www.vintage-radio.net/forum/...ad.php?t=91567 |

Re: Is that an AVO?
Yes this is most certainly an Avo and known as the ETM (Electronic Test Meter).
There are 4 variants of this product. (Mark 1 to 4) Andy |

Re: Is that an AVO?
The hammer paint identifies it as one of the later, more common, marks. The earlier ones had wrinkle finish paint.
Mk. I; meter at the bottom of the panel, 2 x EF50 valves Mk. II; meter at top of panel, 6SN7 valve; Mk IV; meter at top of panel, 13D8/12AU7 valve. Information on the Mk IV is readily available but not on the earlier types. The meter movement is similar to those on contemporary Valve Characteristic Meters and unfortunately is often found to have an open-circuit moving coil. Andy, Can you confirm that there was a Mk III please? It seems to be rare and I thought it might be like the Model 9 which never had a Mk III. PMM |
