Default Two small Bakelite electric clocks offered.

Two small Bakelite clocks must find a new home.

The cream coloured one is by Ferranti - the Brown one by Smith's.

As well as the knob to set the time, the cream Ferranti one has a ‘spinner’ knob at the rear to twizzle so as to set the synchronous motor on its merry way. It seems to work fine.

The brown Smith's one doesn’t work, but the motor isn’t open circuit. I’ve taken the motor off to examine it and have noted that if the rotor is ‘nudged', to give it a starting impetus, it runs OK. However, it seems not to want to ‘self-start’. (I’m a bit like that, early in the morning!). Clocks aren’t my forte but I know that some forum members are into them and may have the skill and inclination to restore them. I dare say that the movements of both clocks would benefit from being cleaned in horological cleaner and lubricated with clock oil.

Attractive little things, even just to have on display alongside Bakelite radios. We’ve had them on display for years, but we're in 'de-cluttering mode' so they now come under the generic term ‘clutter’ and have to be ‘re-homed’. The dials are in nice condition and the cases have no cracks or lumps missing. The paint of the cream one has a few little chips and would benefit from a re-spray. (The underling Bakelite is brown - I assume that they were factory sprayed to match the light coloured dial).

Offered for £10.00 the pair, either collected from my home in Cottingham, East Yorks, to the West of Hull, or by second class post at cost - £8.

(Cheque or paypal is fine).

Please PM if interested.

Hi,

Very interested in these but would need them posting. Please put me in the hat if there is going to be other interest.

Thanks,

Jon.

I'm going to bow out of this one. Very nice clocks, but I'm sure Courtney, or whoever they go to, will give them a good home. I like them, but I'm not a collector so it would be unfair to deprive a 'clock person' the chance to own them.

Hello,

Could you put my name in the hat for the Ferranti, please, David?

Many thanks,

Nick

Hi Nick,

I'm selling them as a pair - the postage for each would otherwise be prohibitive.

Do you still want to be considered?

Absolutely. I was just trying not to be greedy!

But I'd happily pay the "prohibitive" postage for a single one if you change your mind.

Thanks.

Thanks for your interest folks.

To be fair, I'll leave it open till last thing tomorrow night, then pop the names of interested parties in the hat.

Pleased to note that they can be 're-homed' to one or another forum member!

Just done the draw - Nick's name came out of the hat, so I'll drop him a PM re delivery.

Thanks to Courtney Louise, Ti Pwun, and Alistair D for their interest.

The thread can be closed now please.
