Re: ITT CVC9 Frame fault
You say it's a disc. What colour is it, and the stripes if any. The Mullard data is a bit sparse to say the least.

Re: ITT CVC9 Frame fault
The Mullard data in that book for that type (E299DD/P344) shows it has a code number of 2322-552-03441, that number is listed with the following band colours starting at the top of the VDR, 1) Orange, 2) Yellow, 3) Yellow.

Re: ITT CVC9 Frame fault
I wonder if a 110 or 120 volt zener would do to replace the VDR?

Re: ITT CVC9 Frame fault
As a test I would use a resistor, need to work out a value to give 4 or 5ma no more than 10ma through the OA91.
If it was me I would defeat the sound muting, check that the g1's on the CRT are biased approx correct and concentrate on the other problems first. Frank |

4 or 5mA? I don't follow?

Re: ITT CVC9 Frame fault
Enough to put the OA91 into conduction to defeat the sound mute without overloading the diode and burning it out.
Perhaps I am thinking about it incorrectly but that's my thoughts. Frank |

Re: ITT CVC9 Frame fault
I think the max zener current would work out to be less than 2mA so far as I can make out.

Re: ITT CVC9 Frame fault
Hi.
Do you have a photo of the VDR Jan? I have quite a few pulled VDRs from various sets so may be able to help. I can't at present check my CVC9 for the type of VDR as it's not immediately accessible. Regards Symon. |

I looked at the OA91 spec and 4 mA gave about 0.4v drop across it so 2mA may be enough if you used a zener to replace the VDR. Hope I am following this ok, apologies if I am not. Frank |

Re: ITT CVC9 Frame fault
I have a few pulls too, but not orange/yellow/yellow. From mine it would appear that it may look like a narrow orange with a broad yellow.

Re: ITT CVC9 Frame fault
Hi there Everyone! Thanks for all the very useful replies.
Ever so sorry for the long reply. its been a hectic last week or so. Heres a picture of the VDR. Theres no colours on it at all. just a pale sandy colour body. (not the best quality image. ive not got a macro lense) I have also replaced R422 1.8k and C306 330pf on the lopt panel which were bad. Still no change. Kind regards, Jan |

Re: ITT CVC9 Frame fault
Hi
I now have a picture! A bad connection on the frame output transformer was causing the problem. Alo a fuse had opened on the power supply panel. The tube looks good, very weak/wrong colours and lack of control of brightness to look into. also the issue of no sound. Regards, Jan |

Re: ITT CVC9 Frame fault
Hi Everyone.
The CVC9 Is finally up and running perfect! The lack of audio was traced to an O/C 3.3k resistor in the audio output stage. Replacement gave me fantastic clear sound. The wrong/lack of colours turned out to be a faulty TDA1327A on the Decoder. It looks like whovever owned the set previously had twiddled every pot in the convergence box and screwed everything up. a quick and dirty greyscale and convergence set up gives very pleasing relults. The tube is a cracker!! The cabinet has also been re-finished with some suitable similar colour fablon as the cabinet was very rough round the edges. Many thanks to all those who helped me get it going Regards, Jan |

Hi Neil. Yes they are indeed. Both Working quite well. Many thanks.
And thanks Records. I "chipped" the ps1 so I didn't have to spend ludicrous amount of money on games lol. Regards. Jan |

Re: ITT CVC9 Frame fault
That looks good! Quite an unusual and attractive woodgrain finish on the front of the TV, quite unlike the two I have here.
As usual a great picture on one if these - they just go on and on. Glyn |
