Default Another request for info - Burndept TRF CN240

Hi Folks, I've had this Burndept a while, it's label says CN240 and it appears to be a 3 valve battery trf. Line up unknown apart from a VP2 - I'm not very familiar with what is I guess a '30s set.

Any idea of what cct would be appropriate, what the correct valve lineup is and the power requirements?

Any info much appreciated. Andy.

I don't have much on it, but it's a 1936 model (i.e. released in '35) and valves are listed as VP2, HL2 and PT2.

Does the label on the right hand side of the chassis yield any useful information about the power requirements and valve line-up?

Hi Ron - the label on the inside shows a diagrammatic layout of the battery, but it disagrees with the labels someone has tied on the ends of the leads. The diagram shows 4 plugs for the HT and GB, I have 5!

One set of labels say LT- and LT+, diagram says the same so thats ok, 2v accumulator I think.

Then we have the 5 in question which are marked HT+ and HT-, bias 4.5v, bias 1.5v which is on the same wire as HT-and finally another wire bias 9v!

The diagram show a battery block which has taps at 9, 7.5, 6, 4.5, 3, 1.5 and Gb+ which is also marked - I assume this is HT -. Then there are I guess HT taps at 36, 48, 60, 72, 84, 96, 108 and 120.

Hello,
Burndept and Vidor radios of this period often had the same chassis. Looking at the circuits the Vidor CN232 seems to have an identical chassis layout as yours. (Same valveholder positions, same arrangement of battery and speaker leads, same terminal panel on the back etc etc.) It is on Paul's CD so I assume it is available above.

Yours, Richard
