Default Dynatron Cavalcade

Hi all just bought a cracking Dynatron Cavalcade with an unmarked Garrard deck. I'm no electronics expert so I need some advice. When I switch it on it makes a hissing scratchy sound. It plays OK.

Also are these a rarity?

Thanks, Phil.

When you say the deck is unmarked, doesn't the little round disc on the control panel give a model number? It looks like an AT6mk2.

I wouldn't say they are rare, but they don't come up for sale very often, probably because in their day (around 1964) they were that much more expensive than standard record players, and sold in comparatively few numbers. Superb players, though, and keep an eye open for the matching add-on amplifier, enabling you to hear your records in "glorious stereo"!

You have bought well. This looks good and will sound good. It has a stereo (or stereo compatible) cartridge so you can play all types of records on it.
The hissing scratching sound is likely to be caused by faulty capacitors.
If this your first project, given that you plan to learn how to restore vintage electronic equipment, then this Forum can help you.
If not, and if the noise is troublesome, it may be best to get this repaired using a local-to-you Member of this Forum.

Thanks for the advice. Yes it says AT6 mk2A.

I'm also looking for a set of legs. There's a guy on eBay who makes them for Dansette record players do you think they'll have the same thread? Cheers
