Does anyone know the manufacturer of this plug?

Hello everyone,

I found this 15 amp 3 round pin plug the other day and was wondering what brand it is, the back is marked with what appears to be a light switch with a letter B inside (see photos below).

If anyone does know the brand of this plug please could you tell me as I would like to know.

Hi Tom.

I could be wrong ( and probably am!) but I'm going to hazard a guess that it might be a 'Britmac' brand plug.

It's the only likely one I can think of that starts with 'B'.

This is an interesting one - at first glance from the pin side, the plug looks to be based on the shape of the MK bs546 standard plug, but unlike the MK has only one screw securing the cover and has split pins.

I do not think the logo on the cover is Britmac however, as all the older Britmac stuff I’ve come across has a diamond shaped logo.

I initially thought maybe Bulgin or BG, but a quick Google search negates that theory too....

I’d be very interested to see how this thread develops, and can only presume it must be a smaller manufacturer, UK based, prevalent in the 1950s, possibly regionally based some way away from the southwest !

Another thought, unlikely I guess, but could the ‘B’ be an ‘8’ maybe?

I would also say it’s not a Britmac. I have a picture of a socket I removed a few weeks ago and it has the B inside a diamond between the pins. Not the best picture .the socket is now in my personal museum .Andy

Just my input but that "B" also looks like it could be an "e"??

The dome bit has a stalk, like a piece of fruit, on that basis alone I am going to guess Berry Electric.

Maybe I was overthinking the "fruit stalk" theory. I now think the logo represents a traditional tumbler switch.

My mind has been puzzling this one too, over the last few days.

Certainly agree on the tumbler/dolly switch image however.

I have tried to think of all the old electrical manufacturers I’ve come across in my childhood and adult days and done much googling.

The only other name so far I keep coming back to is Blaco, and although found that they did indeed make conduit, have found nothing yet to suggest they made wiring accessories.

Will keep thinking......

Those BS 546 plugs have always been used on lighting rigs in theatres and concert venues etc., right up to the present day.

Possible i suppose, but I think unlikely. I've rarely seen anything other than black rubber plugs used in theatre. Mainly Duraplugs, but a few others of similar construction too.

I don't think it's theatre lighting. I did know the answer, I've got some accessories with this logo and I found it in a catalogue, it's on the tip of my tongue. It's 'B...'
